A double flush is the process where you drain the gearbox filter pan, refill and run for a few miles and then drain, replace the filter pan and sump and refill again.
The gearboxes hold 9.5 litres in total but it is impossible to drain all the fluid as most is held within the torque converter and the only way to 100% change all the fluid is to have a proper gearbox power or mega flush carried out.
A double flush is the next best thing and can be done by any garage without special tools or equipment, however, it is only diluting the fluid and not fully changing it.
