This will be because of a mechanical failure and the gearbox will need repairing or replacing. Changing the filter and fluid is unlikely to fix this fault.

I have a problem of dash reading trans.failsafe.prog. for my range rover vogue td6 l322 of 2004. I took it to the technical guys they told me that it have mechanical faults in the gear box. They recommend replacing it. Can you advice?
